At 8127 Mason Road, one mile east of St.Rt.61, in Berlin
Heights, Ohio sits this 175 year old stone and mortar historical building,
surrounded by apple trees, at Quarry Hill Orchards. The house was
originally built by Joseph and Anna Tucker in 1835 and it is the only
sandstone Greek Revival home in this area. This historical home was
recently listed by the The National Park Service on the National Register
of Historic Places in Erie County. The current owners, Bill &
Jacquie Gammie, inherited the home from William Gammie (Bill's father) who
came to this area in 1930's. And with many historical building, it needs some
repair to restore it which has been vacant for about 25 years. But with any luck at all, this old school house,
which has weathered the test of time, will be restored and enjoyed by
people of Berlin Heights and northern Ohio who visit the orchard store.
